Suction cups not like the ones in your bathroom.

Vacuum suction cups are by no means just your regular bathroom suction cups that “stick to the wall”. The system uses physics-based, industry-proven technology. Vacuum suction cups are used to lift large window panes in high-rise construction, and each of our suction cups can withstand up to 100 kg.

The vacuum is activated by a piston in the suction cup and cannot be interrupted without manual intervention in the suction cups.

Versatility of use.

The upgraded version of the Vacuumrack SKI carrier provides more space between the carrier surface and the roof of the car, which allows the transport of skis/snowboards with bindings installed. You can also use this height for more curved surfaces such as the roof or rear window.

Each support bracket is lockable and has an integrated larger button for easy handling while wearing ski gloves.

A little theory.

To calculate the strength of the vacuum achieved, we use this basic equation:

Ft = ΔP x A

Ft = 10 x (π x 3^2)

Ft = 128.7 KG

A = Area (πr²)

ΔP = Atmospheric - Vacuum Pressure (Atmospheric pressure = 14.7 psi, Vacuum pressure = 4.7 psi (approx.)

Our 152mm suction cup is theoretically resistant to tensile forces of up to 128.7 KG. This means that a SKI carrier with 4 suction cups has a vacuum power equivalent to a resistance of 514.8KG (128.7x4).

The above information does not take into account external conditions and losses due to altitude and surface friction. However, it does show that our suction cups are incredibly strong and more than capable of holding your sports equipment.

Universal compatibility.

VacuumRack vacuum carriers are universal and suitable for almost all cars, whether it's a Tesla, BMW, Porsche, Ferrari, Jaguar, electric car, etc. However, customers often ask if Vacuumrack carriers are compatible with their car.

The suction cups are suitable for mounting on aluminum roofs, panoramic/glass roofs, steel roofs and also carbon fiber roofs. The only limitation is cars with a profiled roof, which does not offer a large enough, flat surface for the suction cups to be placed.

If you are not sure, write to us or send a photo of your car to clarify the compatibility of VacuumRack carriers.

We have tested our racks up to 290 Km/h under controlled conditions and with appropriate safety measures. However, exceeding the speed limit violates the Vacuumrack warranty. You must comply with all posted speed limits and traffic conditions; if no speed limit is posted, we recommend that you do not drive faster than 130 Km/h. You must adapt your driving style and speed to the road conditions, weather conditions and the load on your Vacuumrack.

20 Kg. For bicycles heavier than 20 Kg (e.g. e-bikes) we recommend using a carrier

If your bike is equipped with the older QR standard, the so-called quick release (the wheel "falls out" after being released from the fork), select the 9x100mm QR adapter from the menu above. You can recognize the newer wheel mounting standards by the fixed axle in the wheels, the so-called "Through Axle" (the wheel does not fall out freely after being released, this axle must be pushed out of the wheel hub). These basic six types and sizes represent 99% of all types of bicycles on the market, including road, cross and gravel bikes, cruisers, MTB, BMX bikes and E-bikes.

Absolutely. We sometimes say “wetter is better” here, but don’t take that as a joke. Vacuum suction cups usually hold better when wet, so rain is not an issue. As for snow and cold, be aware that if you remove the stand after using it in the cold, you may need to reheat it to near room temperature before the rubber is flexible enough to form a tight seal with the mounting surface. Once it’s mounted (or, if you haven’t removed it), you’re good to go. In warmer weather, we also recommend wetting the sealing edge of the suction cups before attaching them. DO NOT DO THIS IN FREEZING TEMPERATURES. The vacuum suction cups will freeze to the surface of your car, preventing the vacuum pump and check valve from working properly. You will still need to wipe down your car in the cold, as the vacuum mounts will not attach if there is snow or ice on the car. Dry the carrier before attaching it!

No, the vacuum suction cups, which are the only part of the Vacuumrack in contact with the car, are made of non-marking rubber.

We do not recommend using our products on cars with foil. Our tests have shown that the vacuum suction cups pull a bubble into the foil during application, which damages the foil and is not a safe point to attach the Vacuumrack. Some customers have removed the foil from the car at the point where they could then attach the vacuum suction cups. However, the Vacuumrack can be used without any problems on cars with ceramic coating.

We recommend that you mount the rack where the roof has a supporting structure, such as just behind the windshield or just in front of the rear window. Unsupported areas, such as the very center of the roof, can flex when driving on bumpy roads.

The MONO carrier can be mounted in either direction, but the bike must always be facing forward. Always! We don't like pictures from customers mounting their bike facing backwards or sideways. This voids your warranty and is not a safe way to transport your bike. Please don't do it.

Yes, we have a solution, check out our anchors . Combined with any metal cable, they create a secure anti-theft solution.

Each Vacuumrack has an indicator strip right on the pump piston. When the vacuum cup starts to lose vacuum, the piston will start to extend. When it extends far enough and the indicator strip is visible, it's time to pump it back up. Unlike traditional suction cups, you don't have to remove the Vacuumrack and quickly lick it (unless you enjoy doing that, which we won't judge...) to pump it up.

In addition to selling complete vacuum carriers that you could replace damaged ones with, we also sell spare parts such as new vacuum suction cups and pistons.

"Strong as a bull." The 12cm vacuum cups each have a tensile strength of 55 kg under vertical centrifugal force. The 15cm vacuum cups have a resistance of up to 100 kg each. It is clear that placing multiple vacuum cups on one carrier multiplies its maximum resistance and performance.

Your bike should always face forward on your car, but the rack itself can also be mounted “upside down”. You may want to do this for a better fit on the roof, trunk or lid. Turning the rack can often solve mounting problems, such as the bike chain coming into contact with the car’s tailgate, etc.

Each Vacuumrack comes with a suction cup cover. Replace the cover on the suction cup when not in use. Make sure to push the edge of the suction cup fully into the cover. If the suction cup is not fully seated in the cover, the edge could warp and make it difficult to attach the next time you use the rack. If this happens, let your Vacuumrack sit on a flat surface, such as a countertop, for a few hours until the warping resolves itself through gravity. Despite the UV inhibitor built into the rubber and plastic compounds we use, it is a good idea to store your Vacuumrack in a box or in the shade when not in use.
