In 1989, Chris and Sara Fortune purchased the small, family-owned Graber bike carrier company in Madison, Wisconsin. Together they renamed the company to Saris, which is a combination of their names, and with the new business name, Saris carriers quickly became a global success. All are still manufactured in the USA and exported worldwide. The demand for reliable and intelligently designed bicycle carriers grew rapidly, and in the same year the company shipped the first container to Asia. Since then it has been success after success, and in 1994 the company comes to the market with the Bones carrier.
