- Absolutely! It has a steel skeleton that runs along the entire underside as well as the front of the Twistboxes. The attachment of the product to the roof of the car takes place in the steel – which guarantees high strength even during panic braking at high speed. The steel frame also prevents loosely packed items in the box from flying out through the front. We think our solution is safer than other products on the market that is made of plastic or fiberglass – which may crack in case of high stress.
- Certainly! Twistboxes remains stable whether it’s loaded up or empty – no wobbling while you drive.
- The Twistboxes is made of waterproof fabric sewn with thread that minimizes water penetration. But it may occur that water penetrates in heavy rainfall. Always pack sensitive items in waterproof bags, such as our own duffelbags. For environmental reasons, the fabric is not treated with a means of mold (because of its toxic character). To avoid mold not occurring, make sure that the Twistboxes always has the opportunity to dry up completely, avoid, for example, rolling your Twistboxes immediately after a heavy rainy weather. If mold were to occur – be sure to wipe it off with a moistened cloth immediately and your Twistboxes will not be damaged.
- Yes! It is both lighter and has lower air resistance than other roof boxes of the same size. In an independent test, air resistance was 25% lower than a comparable traditional roof box. Add to that – Twistboxes can be easily folded on the roof and transported flat when empty, which provides minimal air resistance.
- It’s been tested in extreme conditions, enduring heavy snowfall and temperatures as low as -35°C.
- It fits all market roof racks. Mount using the “quick mount”, recommended with 4 T-bolts and 4 Twistboxes mounts. Alternatively, use 4 U-clamps with 8 Twistboxes mounts, depending on your rack’s design. Maximum width for racks without a T-rail is 7 cm since the included U-clamp is 8 cm wide.
- No, it doesn't have to. Thanks to the two robust side walls, the roof box retains its shape and stability even when empty and won't wobble even at high speeds.
- No, it is very difficult to open with a knife or other tools. The fabric, which is very strong, is on both the inside and outside of the box, i.e. double-sided. Between the fabrics, there is a stainless steel plate at the bottom and a 3 mm thick plastic in the roof and sides, which is also lined. It makes it impossible to easily cut open a Twistboxes.
- The waterproof, high-tech textile is equipped with a UV 50+ finish, which ensures high resistance to UV radiation. However, it's important to keep in mind that this finish can degrade over time due to weather influences and, of course, UV radiation. Therefore, it's best not to expose the roof box to the elements 24/7 for several years. Waterproof doesn't mean 100% waterproof—even truck tarpaulins can't. So, if you want to store something in the roof box that shouldn't get wet, we recommend using suitable panniers
- Twistboxes do not limit the speed of your vehicle. Rather, the limitation lies in the maximum permitted speed the vehicle can handle. Don’t forget to follow the speed sign!
